Our focus during integrated studies in term 3 was learning our Pepeha and Maori myths and legends.
Paikea was a classroom favourite that we read as a class and recreated.
We all had a role to play and enjoyed recreating Paikea.

Please leave a comment below about our movie. :)

Report Writing

This term we have been learning about how to write reports.
We researched about the Monarch Butterfly.
In our reports we needed to have;
Opening Statement/Classification
Interesting Information
Closing Statement/summary

Here are some of the different ways we published our reports...

Check out Tawhi's Animoto movie about his report on the Monarch Butterfly.

Special Vistor

Callum brought in one of his pet lambs to meet the children in room 6.
His name was Sammy the Lamb.
He was so cute wiggling his tail while he drank his milk.
Sammy was 2 weeks old on Sunday the 20th September.

Thanks so much to Callum and his mum for bringing Sammy to visit us at Awapuni School.

Cricket Skills

Last Tuesday the 15th of September we had our first session with Mel and Ben learning cricket skills.
We practiced our catching, bowling, batting and fielding skills. We all learnt something new.
It was a beautiful afternoon in the sun playing cricket.

We are excited about our next session in week 10.

Keep NZ Beautiful Week

Last week was Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week.
We helped look after our Gisborne community by picking up rubbish at the beach.
We then looked at different types of rubbish to see what we could reduce, reuse or recycle.

Can YOU reduce, reuse or recycle your waste?

Tidy Kiwis

Caring for our environment is catchy... look at these tidy kiwis picking up rubbish around Awapuni School at lunch time.
Awesome effort Callum, Joshua, Jessica, Jake, Zarneo and Leigh.

Conservation Awareness

We have been looking at the effect rubbish has on our environment.
We discovered that there are 5 floating garbage island in our oceans.

Pop See Koo

Mrs Allen shared this cool energizer with us.
Its a lot of fun and a very catchy tune.
We want to Pop See Koo all the time!

Can You Pop See Koo?

All Blacks

What an awesome day we had when 3 All Blacks came to visit.
Dan Carter, TJ Perenara & Charlie Faumuina were great at tabloids sports.
TJ came in to Rm 6 for a visit, he watched our movie we entered into the Black to the Nation competition.
We learnt that Rugby is full of Mathematics and Dan Carter loves problem solving.
We think he could have been an Awapuni Student because we love problem solving too!

Fractions Fun!

We have been learning about Fractions and Decimals.

Working out the fraction families.

Decimals are fun.

We can order fractions from smallest to largest.

Cross Country Fun

The sun came out and we had a great time during our cross country last Friday.
It was great to see everyone supporting each other during this event.

Can you tell we had fun?

Raining day Yoga.
On these wet cold days we like to do Yoga. It's a great way to stretch out our bodies, relax and refresh our minds.
It's a lot of fun and we have lots of giggles too!

Whats your favorite Yoga Move?
